Rural Metro Fire Is Now Part of Brindlee Fire Services

Rural Metro Fire has a new owner — and we couldn't be more excited about it.

In December 2024, Brindlee Fire Services completed its acquisition of Rural Metro Fire, and we believe this change is a great thing for our Knox community.

About Brindlee Fire Services

Brindlee Fire Services is a fire-focused company headquartered in Alabama, built from the ground up with a single purpose: supporting fire departments and the communities they serve. That focus sets Brindlee apart. Fire isn't one of many priorities — it's the only priority.

Brindlee CEO James Wessel has spent nearly 30 years in fire response and has long admired Rural Metro Fire's legacy and mission. Under his leadership, Brindlee has assembled a family of fire industry companies — including Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus, Firetrucks Unlimited, and Solomon Safety — giving Rural Metro access to resources and expertise it has never had before.

What This Means for Knox County

For our Knox County community, the day-to-day experience remains the same. The Rural Metro Fire name, our dedicated local team, and our commitment to fast, professional emergency response aren't going anywhere.

What has changed is that Rural Metro Fire now has ownership that is 100% focused on fire services — bringing greater stability, resources, and long-term investment to the communities we protect.

We're proud to be part of the Brindlee family, and we're proud to keep serving Knox.
