Welcoming Our New Pumper To The Fleet

Today marks an exciting milestone for Rural Metro Fire as we officially place our brand-new E215 pumper into service in Knox County, Tennessee. This state-of-the-art fire apparatus represents our continued commitment to providing Knox County residents and subscribers with the highest level of fire protection and emergency response.

Meet the E215: Built for Knox County

The E215 is a 2025 E-ONE VM8 pumper built on a rugged Spartan chassis and powered by a 450hp Cummins engine. It features a 1,500 GPM Hale fire pump paired with a 1,000-gallon onboard water tank — giving our Knox County firefighters the capacity, reliability, and flow capability needed to respond quickly and effectively to structure fires, vehicle fires, and emergency calls across our service area.

Honoring Tradition with a Push-In Ceremony

With tradition at the forefront, we honored the new pumper's arrival with a "push-in" ceremony — a time-honored fire service custom dating back to the days of horse-drawn equipment. When crews returned from calls, they had to physically push their apparatus back into the station bay. Today, this tradition lives on as a symbol of teamwork, pride, and welcoming a new piece of equipment into service alongside the dedicated firefighters who will operate it.

Continued Investment in Knox County Fire Protection

Investing in modern fire apparatus like the E215 is part of how Rural Metro Fire continues to deliver dependable, professional fire protection services to Knox County communities. We are proud to carry on this legacy and even more excited to see our new pumper hit the streets, ready to serve and protect from day one.

Join us in welcoming the E215 to the Rural Metro Fire Knox County family!
